The Provisional Government
The Provisional Government at Shanghai in 1919, and Edward Chang's claim that it came out of a labor camp in Riverside.
The leader
"I am re-writing the history of Korea. Korean historians don't like that. I am not even a historian." Edward T. Chang, Hot Off the Press, 2021, at 49:00.
Chang claims the Shanghai Provisional Government's democratic republicanism came out of a 1911 convention in Riverside, and that "historians agree there was no debate, no opposition". Absolutely incorrect. The Provisional Government was the merger of three groups, in Vladivostok, Siberia and Seoul, with three different lists of cabinet members. Syngman Rhee and Lee Tong Hwi clashed and never settled it; Rhee was impeached; and fed up with the endless debates, Dosan quit as Minister of Labor in 1921. This is well known history and is not debatable. Chang provides no evidence. Why no peer review?
