Dosan's four principal ideals, Mooshil, truth; Yeokhaeng, action; Choongeui, loyalty; Yonggam, bravery, could be described with one concept: sincerity. Mu, pursue; Shil, the truth; Yeok, and vigorously; Haeng, act on it. Always seek the truth, act upon the truth, be loyal and trustworthy, have courage to uphold the truth.

Dosan believed that real national strength was moral and ethical health, and that sincerity, honesty and endeavor were its sources. Cultivating respectable character was not preparation for building national power. It was that work.
